Good Bye 2008!! It's been a fun ride.

Welcome 2009!!!

I spent the entire day of the first day of 2009 at home with my family today. We had dinner together (Shabu-Shabu ala My Mom's style). Besides that I spent the whole afternoon till night watching the Disney's classics animation. Starting from Sleeping Beauty. I have to tell you, I am enchanted by these classics and I started to wonder who my prince charming will be like. Could he be:
The brave and modernist like Prince Philip, who would fight for you and could sweep you off your feet with his love songs.
The trustworthy and romantic like Aladdin, who could come up with the smartest trick to make you laugh and has the neatest “mode of transportation”.
The sweet and understanding like the Beast, who loves you and giving you freedom to be yourself and has the best home

Because I am such a greedy person I want my prince charming to be all of the above :)

Because I’ve watched Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast in one single day and from every single one of them I learned something in common for all these beautiful ladies.
1. They are not afraid to dream and put their hopes in the stars. They are optimists.
2. They are a feminist; they believe that women are important decision maker too. (Ex. Jasmine declined to be married just because of some stupid laws, Belle made the decision to stay behind so her father could be released)
3. They are smart and funny, at times witty.
4. They are kind and fair to everyone around them, they can be fierce but it's all for the good.
5. They don’t really care about status or appearance of their princes. What inside is the most important and they love them just the way they are. (Ex. Cinderella doesn’t even know that she is actually dancing with the Prince, Aurora thought that the guy in the woods is some stranger passing by, Jasmine knows that Aladdin is only a peasant but she picked him among other princes, and Belle doesn’t care that her prince is a 10 feet tall beast whose paws could tear down a tree.)
6. They believe in love, freedom and all things good and righteous.
7. They are much more modern than the people in their eras.
8. They are self-less. They are willing to exchange their own happiness for the happiness of others.
9. They work hard to achieve their dreams.
10. They have great smiles.

So, in addition that they are beautiful, they have great gowns and they love to sing (thinking of which, all of the princes love to sing as well…well, match made in heaven, I guess J ) I guess these qualities are the things that made all these princesses steal their princes’ heart.

Those fairy-tales happy endings tend to make me feel warm and fuzzy inside, makes me feel nostalgic and breaking some of my cynic, too realistic point of view about lives. They bring me some gleam that life should be more like a fairy-tale; you have to believe it to have the miracle happens to you.

Hey, I should make that as one of my New Year Resolution: "To live in 2009 with more positive outlook and believe that the best is yet to come."
Happy New Year 2009, everyone!!!
