My "total pigging out" day

I went to Grand Indonesia with my best friends, Ms K and Ms N on Saturday, 28th Feb. During the planning of the event, we have decided (almost without any objection) that we shall dine at Social House (Harvey Nichols, level 1, Grand Indonesia).

We reached there at about 2.00 PM. Thought that everybody should be finishing their brunches or even lunches. With confidence we walked in only to be told that they're currently full-house. But only 3 groups in front of us. So because we have heard so much about this place, we decided that we should just hang around for our table. (I thought, 3 groups, probably would take about well....20 mins since it's quiet a big place). We were waiting and chatting away, enjoying the open-air lounge, sipping on my friend's "Lily of the Valley" (which to us tasted a little bit like "Es Teler", but it was nice). We were still waiting and now started to get agitated (we hadn't eaten a lot since morning and the time now was almost 3.30). The wind from the AC started to blow cold and hot on us and still nobody approached us for our table. It was raining when we reached, it stopped and rained and stopped again, so you could see that we had almost 2 cycles of rains while we were waiting. Like what I always say, people who are hungry will do a lot of unspeakable things. We started to pester the receptionist, only to be given stupid answers. Before we got even hungrier and bitchier, they told us that the table was ready. Without smiling we proceeded to our table and in 5 mins decided on what we should eat and ordered (with gentle reminder to the "mas"- please hurry or we will eat you! well the we will eat you might be an exageration but it was clear in my eyes.)

In about 10 mins came our Grandma's Homemade Ice Lemon Tea. The taste was awesome. Sweet, refreshing, with a tinge of mint and the perfect blend of freshly sliced lemons and the tea. To topped it all up, they placed a single scoop of lime sorbet on top of the lemon-tea. The Lime Sorbet was sweet and soury, let you taste the "it melts in your mouth" sensation without taking away the crunchinest of the ice particle in the sorbet. Light and graceful, that's what I thought about the lime sorbet. Mamamia for the whole Ice lemon Tea. True enough, it managed to get us back into our nice, cheery, chatter-boxy self. I should say that this was the best Ice-Lemon-Tea that I've tasted since quiet sometime. (Let's just forget the fact that we were hungry and thirsty and just focus on the Lime Sorbet).

As a follow-up, our orders were served, Ms K's Egg Benedicts, Ms N's Croque Madame (or Panini), and my own Social House Colossal Wagyu Beef Burger. We were totally lost in our own world for a little while when we had those in our mouths. After we finished biting, we almost felt sorry that we bitched with that particular receptionist (ok, we know she was just doing her job. Hey Hungry people, remember?) Since then on, let just say that the waiting time was worth it. The Wagyu was beautifully presented, the union of the caramalized onion and the beef as well as the rocket on the bottom of the burger perfectly brought forth the beef's tastiness. The meat was chunky at a great porpotion for one person (a guy, i mean but if you are food lover like me, then it would be perfect size), it was tender and juicy, oh please order them in medium well so you could really savour the beef's original flavour. It's so easy to say that I have found my new best burger in town. Due to the effect that the food had given us, we were all ready to roam across the mall. Oh, have I told you that the Ice-Lemon-Tea was good? It was THAT good.
I should also add that the tartare sauce was equally appetizing (dip your french fries on it or your rocket salad. Wonderfully made).

Today was a full of pigging out day for me, during dinner we went out to Ootoya at Senayan City and I ate chicken katsu in caramelized onion soup. The katsu was ok but the soup was so nice. It was sweet, light, and uplifted the katsu to a better taste. The miso was different as well ( I remembered I wrote about their miso in my previous entry), it has a taste of freshly made on a charcoal stove feel, which made it stands out and relaxes you. Oh and their O-Cha was special, they tasted powdery but not choking and you could only feel the tea powder slightly on the back of you throat. It was good and even better when it was free. (Someone tried to "Khup, khup" it down before leaving showed how nice it was).

Saturday is always a great day for me, but I always think that it will be greater when you could actually share it with the people that you love and you care about. It is always fun on Saturday, but I also found out that you have to be with certain people (or food) to actually make it funner. To this, I always thank God for you all. :) (How is it possible that everytime we got together, I always be able to laugh out crazily?) I may be dragging my feet everytime I make a decision to come back home to Jakarta, but you all make the trip worth every minutes. :)

I discovered a lot of new food today, but something interests me more. I found out, someone had been growing up and it almost brought tears to my eyes. It was a good thing and I was very proud of you. :) Keep it up!!!.. furthermore, 28th Feb was my special friend bday. I wish all the very best to you, brother and hope that you are blessed with the most wonderful life ahead of you. I will wait for the day when you come down to Jakarta, and treat all of us to that Wagyu and that Ice-lemon-tea.

Peace and Love.
